If you caught my post last week about Laguna Gloria, you know I’ve been featuring the best Austin wedding venues I’ve shot at (including those in the greater Austin area like Dripping Springs). I couldn’t do this series without talking about one of my OG Austin favorites: Canyonwood Ridge!

Before I go on to talk about why I love the property, I would be remiss if I didn’t first mention my favorite intangible thing about Canyonwood: their staff! Their team of in-house coordinators and venue managers is second to none. They’re always one step ahead AND even when you pair them with your own wedding planner, they’re still super supportive, communicative and ready to serve.

Now – why does CWR make my “best Austin wedding venues” list? *takes deep breath* Well…

THE CHAPEL. I mean LOOK AT THIS LIGHT!!!! I’ve honestly only ever shot indoor weddings at Canyonwood Ridge because their chapel is second to none. Texas is HOT, the weather is unpredictable and my couples are committed to actually enjoying their wedding day – they’re not trying to second guess their rain plan at the last minute.

THE HILL COUNTRY VIEWS. Whenever my couples talk about wanting a smooth timeline, I can’t help but stop and talk about the golden hour photos we can capture during their wedding at CWR. There is a reason people get married here and this is chief among them. Even if the sunset on the day of your wedding is 8:30 – let’s plan to sneak out and capture this goodness, you won’t regret it!

THE RECEPTION SPACE. I love that this hall can transformed into anything your heart desires. I love that you can set an elegant dinner AND then boogie down at night with all the dancing + the glow of those Edison bulbs in the background. O B S E S S E D.

THE BRIDAL SUITE. I can’t tell you how nice it is to capture girlies getting ready in natural light in a space that’s actually big enough for them. I mean, look at those photos below, enough said right?

THE NATURAL LIGHT FOR DETAILS. I’ve mentioned natural light a few times in this blog, but I can’t say enough good things about the natural light that can be found inside the venue for detail photos! It’s so tough to find a nice, clean, bright, safe spot that’s out of the way to capture ring photos + other details. CHECK CHECK CHECK.
