I wholeheartedly believe that there is no better way to spend a Sunday than taking Santa Cruz engagement photos for people like Katy and Marty! From the moment I met them, they were warm and inviting. I’d been chatting with Katy for months and had come to know her as a sweetheart, so when I met Marty, everything made even more sense, because these two are truly the perfect fit.
We started off these Santa Cruz engagement photos at Panther Beach, followed by the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. I’d been spending the day with my boyfriend’s family, so we arrived a little early to Panther Beach and were met with the most incredible cliffs (and a pretty steep climb down to the beach).
It was way more windy than any of us anticipated, but Katy and Marty weathered it like champs (which is great, since they’re both competitive!) and we all just had fun with the craziness of the winds, waves and sand. Marty is originally from San Diego, so you could say we were definitely in his element 😉 You almost can’t tell it was windy in some of these – bless Katy for being such a good sport.
Their story first started when Katy and Marty originally met at Santa Clara University over 5 years ago. Marty originally proposed on top of Mission Peak in the East Bay area — it’s so funny hearing Katy recount it since she said she was a hot mess at the end of the hike and BOOM, Marty asked her to marry him!
They are finally getting married at the Mission at Santa Clara next fall, followed by dinner and dancing in Los Altos afterwards – there’s no better way for California natives like these two to spend their big day. I can’t wait to adventure around campus with them as they relive their glory days on their best day!
