Chelsea and Clayton’s downtown Charleston engagement photos were the perfect way for me to end my season of destination engagement photos! This session is super special to me because Chelsea and I have known each other for YEARS and our relationship has taken all forms: fellow college tour guides, brunch buddies, roomies, neighbors and best friends. It blows my mind to think her and Clayton have already been together for over three years – that’s the type of thing that makes you feel like time is rushing by entirely too quickly. Clayton and Chelsea met at a friend’s party, but in typical Chelsea style, she left Clayton wanting more, because they met right before Chelsea jetted off to Norway! Once she came back to the states, it wasn’t long until they were inseperable.

My sweet friends got engaged this past August (just after their three year anniversary) in Austin at one of their favorite places: Auditorium Shores (with the incredible Austin skyline gleaming in the background – just like this proposal). We all had a feeling it was coming, but it still brought tears to my eyes to see an engagement ring on my best friend’s finger (AH)!

Within a week of getting engaged, Chelsea and Clayton decided on a destination engagement session (to match their destination wedding next summer!) which led us to downtown Charleston engagement photos!!! YAY!

We were all drawn to the colorful, coastal architecture of low country and let’s be entire real here: ALL THE PINK BUILDINGS!! We spent 2.5 days in the city shooting so we got to hit up all the must-see spots: Chalmers, City Hall, Historic Downtown, Colonial Lake, Rainbow Row, White Point Park and lots of little spots in between. My favorite part of destination engagement sessions is adventuring and creating something completely new and completely reflective of my couple.

Outside of all the shooting, we also had some of the best food of my life at Husk (any other Chef’s Table fans here?!) and incredible cocktails at Camellias at Hotel Bennett.
