Jenn and Elliott’s chilly winter Terrace Club wedding was one to remember (and I don’t just mean the five hour reception, even though the dancing was 🙌🙌🙌🙌). I hadn’t seen these babes since their May engagement session, since they traveled in for their wedding. I knew though that more than anything these DC residents wanted a pleasant *Texas* winter wedding! (You know, where it’s 75 and sunny 😎) But come what did (like the 30 degree temps and threatening rain), these two kept the joy and energy going all day focusing on what truly matters: marrying each other!
We started the day at the Hilton downtown and there was the excited buzz as Holly and I walked in as Jenn was getting her finishing touches done by Luna of LoLa Beauty (one of my FAV local hair and makeup companies!) All of Jenn’s sisters and besties were focused on making her feel like the bridal queen she was. It wasn’t long before the details were shot and we were poking our heads in to check on Elliott. I was floored by his custom suit and was so excited to see his reaction to Jenn’s gift: a bottle of 10-year Pappy Van Winkle whiskey, carefully flown in from DC. Little details like that were telling of how much care and attention went into their day and just how excited they were to say YES.
Their wedding was a beautiful culmination of Jenn’s Mexican and Elliott’s African American heritage, including the lasso and “jumping the broom.” These traditions and J + E’s personalities made the ceremony unlike anything else. It took everything in me not to crack up when Jenn accidentally said “I can’t” instead of “I do” (she meant “I can’t get the words out!” because she was crying too hard 😂) and Elliott made the entire wedding burst out in laughter when he faked shock at her choking back “I do!”
By the end of the night, our feet were tired but our hearts were SO full. Take a peek and you’ll see what I mean!
