I won’t lie – blogging this Springdale Station wedding for Kati and Kevin is really emotional for me, since blogging means this wedding is officially done. Since the first time Kati and I spoke, we instantly connected. Two soul sisters who found each other through the wedding industry. You see, not only was Kati a bride, but she’s also the sales manager for one of my favorite companies ever: Oh Happy Day Booth and Pop and Drop. We’d spoken to each other before, but now this girl was getting MARRIED!!! Not only that, but this kick ass woman was MY BRIDE.
Now, I promise I will get to the part where I talk about Kevin, their wedding, and their amazing love story, but I will say: Kati and I fell in love with each other’s friendship over being entrepreneurs, being marketers, being brides, Bravo shows like Housewives and Vanderpump Rules, and all around being totally in sync with one another. Kati’s wedding brought me a new bestie, and for that I’m SO grateful.
NOW back to what we’re really here for: Kati and Kevin’s Springdale Station wedding!!! I interviewed our sweet couple so they could weigh in themselves:
What was your favorite design element of your wedding?
The streamers and champagne truck at the reception space! They totally elevated the space and made it so unique. You could tell it was a party the second you walked in!
Tell me about your love story!
Kevin and I both swiped right when he was in town for a wedding. We kept in touch even after he left Austin and we had our first *official* date in Denver a month later! Our first date was at The Denver Zoo and a Rockies game right after. It was so fun and easy-going and we both knew this was different than any other date we had been on. We did long distance for a year before he moved to Austin and we started a life here. We adopted a dog, built a house, and settled into being in the same city for two years before he proposed in our home on my birthday with “Will you marry me?” on a cookie cake (my favorite kind of cake!). Being at home and just having that moment between the two of us was so special!
Despite having to reschedule your wedding, are you happy with how the day turned out?
100%. I almost feel like it was better because we really appreciated having a more intimate experience. It was great to have something to look forward to and celebrate in such a weird time and everything felt so much more special. Because our guest count was smaller than we originally planned, we were able to add more services to our day and tip our vendors more!
What was your favorite part of the photography experience?
Paige making us feel so natural and comfortable in front of the camera! She makes photo-taking fun and such a great experience! She literally is an honorary bridesmaid and the best friend that will always hype you up (both in front of the camera and in life)! Her suggestions on poses and elements can truly make any awkward person feel like a million bucks in front of the camera. She also shows you images as she takes them so you can get excited about the shots and you get a little preview, which I always love. She has the ability to capture an image in such a way that when you look at that photo again, it truly takes you back to that moment. Everything down to the emotion that you feel to the song that’s playing in the background. She has an incredible skill to make small moments feel so big.
What advice do you have to pass along to other couples planning their weddings?
Have fun and try keep things in perspective! Things will always work out, usually 100x better, even if it’s not what you originally envisioned. Have faith, trust your gut, and know that no matter what, it’s going to be the. best. day. ever.
