I’m SO excited to share our own engagement photos, AHHHHH!!!! After photographing 150+ weddings, it’s been so much fun to catalog our own journey.
We hired Katelyn James (KJ) back in March, right before COVID threw everything into question! Because of COVID, travel restrictions, and everything, we waited until late October to capture our session. Boy, oh, boy was it worth it!!! We made it a jammed packed wedding planning weekend: a catering tasting, engagement photos, wedding dress shopping, a venue tour, and a preliminary design meeting with our planner Ashley! Because we’re less than a year out now, it made it all start to feel so real.
We are SO thrilled with how our photos turned out! After following Katelyn for 8+ years, it was SO much fun to meet her and Michael in person. I can’t lie, I started crying at the end of our session because KJ has been such a role model for me and it was unreal to have a bonafide photographer icon like her shoot OUR photos.
For our photos, we adventured around our favorite Austin district (South Congress) since we feel like it best personifies the quirky nature of the city. And just like I suggest for our couples — we opted for a more formal outfit and a more casual outfit to balance things out. 🙂 Nikhil NEVER wears a suit, but after a little pleading, he wore one for the good of our photos! It definitely paid off. I can’t go without saying thank you to my amazing hair and makeup artist either: Luna Bridal & Beauty!
I can’t stop looking through our photos and it warms my heart that they actually FEEL like us. I can’t wait until we get to do it all over again with KJ + Michael next year for our wedding.

PAIGE!!! They are so beautiful and perfecttttt. And Nikhil, the suit really is perfection.
[…] I had so much fun capturing Ashley and Christian’s modern downtown Austin engagement photos on South Congress (which, if you’ve been following along, may be a space that looks familiar from our own engagement session)! […]
