This midcentury South Congress Hotel wedding is every quirky couple’s dream come true. This project was such a labor of love, and I enjoy every minute of planning it with Beth of 36th Street Events. Our vision was to create an intimate wedding-turned-staycation in one of downtown Austin’s most stylish hotel: the South Congress Hotel. With their modern, understated architecture and drop-dead-gorgeous pool patio, we set out to create a modern, colorful day that blended art, fashion, and laid-back Austin vibes into a memorable and trend-setting motif.

The pièce de résistance of the entire shoot (besides the drone shots of the pool…of course!) was Beth and I’s determination to incorporate a single midcentury printed fabric into every element of the shoot – you’ll see it present in the details, the ceremony, the cake, the invitations, the menus, cocktail hour, pillows for the settee, and even the towel Karsen lounges on by the pool. This created a a brand of sorts for the wedding, offered direction for all the creative team members, and gave our event an effortless cohesion that was unstated, but undeniable.

After a long Texas snowstorm, we still pulled this shoot together, just 3 days after historic snowfall – if you can believe it, the temperature was 85*, which felt like summer after being so frosty. I’m so proud of this team for their dedication and am honored to have create true wedding art together.
