This intimate COVID wedding was so incredibly special since it was PVP’s first wedding back after a wave of coronavirus cancellations and I’m so happy it was for Megan and Eric. This special couple decided to split their wedding up into two meaningful celebrations: an intimate ceremony in May with their immediate family and a joyous party in September with all their family and friends!
Rather than me going on and on about my perception of the day, Megan is sharing her experiences as a COVID couple.
“While it was very different from what we had imagined when we first planned the wedding, it was very special to have only our immediate family and a few of our grandparents present. We are very lucky that everyone except my brother-in-law is local, and that he was willing to travel! We are grateful for the extra time with our parents and siblings.
My favorite element was how we created the ceremony. Eric is Jewish and I am Catholic and we combined traditions from both faiths into our wedding program. We were married under a chuppah inside a Catholic church.
Our priest and rabbi gave us a wedding blessing together (in Hebrew and English). The prayer exists in both faiths and was a beautiful illustration of the commonality between the two religions.
I also loved our “Parking Lot Party!” We spread out a tarp in the parking lot and had our first dance and a champagne toast. Eric surprised me with sparklers for our send-off – something that I’ve always wanted, but our reception venue does not allow. It was fun to get to do them after our ceremony instead!
I would not change anything – it was the perfect celebration for us in the current situation. We are so thankful for our family and friends’ understanding.
Stay focused on the positives! Your day(s) will be even more memorable – we took one day and split it into three different celebrations. Make a list of all of your guests’ email addresses so that you can easily send out updates. We are so excited to see our loved ones when we have our postponed reception!”
