Mika + Tyler had so much fun during their engagement photos at UC Berkeley. These two music lovers and physical therapists met in graduate school and quickly formed a bond when they realized how many nerdy interests they had in common. So many in fact, their first date was Comic-Con! After surrounding themselves with all the sci-fi and fantasy, they were inseparable and spent the next five years wrapping up grad school, starting to practice physical therapy, and falling deeper in love.

When they booked tickets to their favorite music festival, Tyler knew this would be the moment he would ask Mika to marry him. Surrounded by their favorite bands, Tyler popped the question. Music is so important to these two, I know their wedding planned by About Joy Events is going to be a wonderful party filled with great tunes.

Because they love the area so much, we honored Mika’s alma mater and photographed these two on the ground of UC Berkeley in the botanical garden. For these two easy going and goofy people, it was the perfect place to just relax in nature and get cuddly in front of the camera. Not only did we love escaping the chilly, Northern California coastal air by stepping into this little jungle oasis, the UC Berkeley Botanical Gardens was perfect because Mika + Tyler are getting married about 500 yards away in the Redwood Grove! It’ll be so fun for them to return to this area on their wedding day and be reminded of the happy memories we all made during our session together.
