There’s something grounding about photographing an engagement session that unfolds in the same city where a relationship began. Lucy and Rohan both grew up in Austin, went to the same high school, and kept a long, steady friendship that eventually bloomed into dating about seven-ish years ago. That kind of history shows up instantly on camera. There’s comfort, trust, and a quiet confidence that you just can’t fake.
For their Bull Creek engagement session, we wanted somewhere that felt authentically Austin. Bull Creek Park has always been that spot — limestone edges, soft flowing water, pockets of golden sun slipping through the trees. It’s calm, unfussy, and naturally beautiful, which made it the perfect place for photos that feel timeless without trying too hard.
And of course, their Australian Shepherd joined the adventure. She trotted into shots, supervised our posing, and fully embraced her role as canine supermodel. Honestly, she understood her assignment.
Lucy and Rohan’s story feels steady in the best way. They shared the same classrooms and hallways back in high school, stayed friends long after graduation, and eventually realized their connection was something deeper. Now, seven-plus years later, they’ve weathered different cities and busy seasons without losing momentum. Lucy is in San Antonio, Rohan is currently in Houston, and they’ve been making that distance work with ease.
The fun update: Rohan moves to San Antonio in just a few weeks. That long stretch of I-10 has served its purpose — they’re beyond ready for everyday moments in the same place again.
Their proposal story is pure magic.
For New Year’s, they decided to fly to Colorado — with their dog — because they wanted her to experience a snowy vacation. That alone gives you a peek into who they are. But Rohan had something much bigger planned.
On January 1, 2024, he proposed in the Colorado snow, and when Lucy turned around, she didn’t just see mountains. She saw their families. Rohan had flown in his family and had Lucy’s dad there too. Everyone came together for that moment, and the surprise was unforgettable. It was thoughtful, emotional, and the perfect start to the year.
Our Bull Creek engagement session had the most beautiful warm light drifting through the trees. We spent the afternoon walking the creek, finding sun-drenched spots, and leaning into natural interactions — laughing, walking, cuddling, and letting their chemistry take the lead.
Bull Creek gives such a great mix visually:
Their Australian Shepherd happily bounced in and out of the frame, which honestly made everything even sweeter.
These two are getting married in late December at Pecan Springs Ranch, one of Austin’s most charming hill country venues. It’s warm, welcoming, and full of rich textures — the perfect backdrop for a winter celebration that still feels earthy and grounded.
They’re working with Eclipse Event Co., a planning team known for flawless execution and calm, collected energy. Between the venue, the planner, and the heart behind this couple, their wedding is going to be joy-filled from start to finish.
This location made perfect sense for their Bull Creek engagement session:
Their photos feel warm and genuine because that’s exactly who they are. From their high school beginnings to long-distance seasons to a snowy Colorado proposal surrounded by family, Lucy and Rohan have already built such a beautiful life together. This session was just another piece of their story, and December will be the next chapter.
And yes — their Australian Shepherd will absolutely be part of the celebration.
