When the Texas sun starts to dip low and everything turns golden, there’s nothing more romantic than capturing love in the glow of golden hour. Ashley and Andy’s Austin engagement session at McKinney Falls State Park was the perfect mix of natural beauty, adventure, and heartfelt connection.
These two are counting down the days until they say “I do” at Ma Maison in Dripping Springs on Saturday, April 25, 2026. But before the wedding bells, they wanted to celebrate this season of their engagement with photos that felt relaxed, joyful, and uniquely them.
When couples ask me for the best Austin engagement photo locations, McKinney Falls always makes the list. With its towering oak trees, limestone cliffs, and cascading waterfalls, the park feels like a private escape just minutes from downtown Austin.
For Ashley and Andy, it was the perfect spot to lean into their playful side—skipping across rocks, exploring hidden trails, and soaking up every bit of golden hour light. The warm glow of the sunset reflecting off the water gave us those dreamy, film-inspired images that feel timeless and romantic.
We started near the falls, letting the sound of rushing water set the tone for a relaxed, joyful evening. Ashley’s flowy outfit moved beautifully in the breeze, while Andy kept things classic with a laid-back look that made the two of them feel effortlessly themselves.
As the sun lowered, we wandered into the open fields where the tall grass caught the light in the most magical way. That final glow before sunset—golden hour at its best—was the perfect backdrop for the laughter, hugs, and sweet in-between moments that tell their love story.
If you’re recently engaged and dreaming of your own photo session, Austin has endless possibilities. From downtown rooftops with skyline views to hidden nature spots like McKinney Falls, there’s a location for every couple’s personality.
Here are a few things to keep in mind when planning your session:
Timing is everything. Golden hour (the hour before sunset) always gives the softest, most flattering light.
Outfits should reflect you. Think elevated, but still comfortable enough to move, dance, and explore.
Choose a meaningful spot. Whether it’s where you had your first date, your favorite trail, or a place you love to relax together, it will make the photos even more personal.
Ashley and Andy’s McKinney Falls engagement session was such a beautiful reminder that your photos should feel like you. Natural, joyful, and full of genuine connection. I can’t wait to celebrate them again when they tie the knot at Ma Maison next spring!
