Skylar and Wes’ Viansa Sonoma wedding was one of those rare days that felt like sunshine from the inside out. As a Napa wedding photographer who spends so much time documenting vineyard celebrations, this one stood out immediately. The beauty of wine country is undeniable, but what made their day unforgettable was the emotion woven into every moment. These two live in Southern California, but Napa has always held a special place in their hearts, making Viansa the perfect backdrop for their May 2025 wedding.
From the soft pink ceremony stage to the sweeping vineyard views, from Skylar’s timeless lace gown to Wes’ black tux, everything about this Viansa Sonoma wedding blended romance with classic wine country elegance. But more than anything, it was a story of resilience, joy, and a love that has already weathered more than most couples face in a lifetime.
Not long after Skylar and Wes started dating, she received a life-changing cancer diagnosis. Instead of fear creating distance, it solidified just how deeply they were meant for each other. Wes was by her side through every appointment, every unknown, every step. When you know that part of their journey, watching them stand together at the edge of Viansa’s overlook, laughing in the golden May sun, it hits different. Their wedding wasn’t just a gorgeous day in Napa Valley – it was a celebration of survival, faith, gratitude, and choosing each other again and again.
Viansa Sonoma is one of the most iconic wine country venues for a reason. Surrounded by rolling vineyards, olive trees, terracotta rooftops, and panoramic views of the wetlands, it feels like an Italian escape tucked away in Northern California. As a Napa wedding photographer, I’m always inspired by how much variety the property offers – architectural textures, lush greenery, long rows of cypress trees, and a ceremony vista that’s impossible to forget.
Skylar and Wes leaned into the romance of the location with a palette of soft pinks, whites, and lush greens. Their ceremony featured a custom pale-pink round stage lined with overflowing florals from Wild Fleur – a dreamy setting that blended seamlessly with the surrounding hills.
Skylar wore the most stunning gown from Monique Ihuillier for the ceremony – a strapless lace ballgown that moved beautifully with every breeze and step. It paired perfectly with her soft, polished updo by The Makeup Dolls and a bouquet full of layered pink blooms. For her rehearsal look, she wore Kate Willa, then later changed into a chic Chapman dress for the reception.
Wes looked effortlessly timeless in a black tux from Alandales – clean, modern, and the perfect match for the formal vineyard aesthetic.
The ceremony took place overlooking the wetlands with the endless panorama of Sonoma stretching behind them. The May light was crystal clear – warm, bright, and perfect for a romantic Napa vineyard wedding. Guests sat in cross-back chairs framed with lush florals that created a soft, garden-style aisle.
As Skylar walked toward Wes, you could feel the emotion ripple through the entire space. They exchanged vows surrounded by people who had walked through their hardest and brightest seasons with them. There wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd.
Just when everyone thought the most emotional moment of the night had passed, Wes proved them wrong. As the reception unfolded, he took the mic for a surprise that Skylar (and honestly all of us) will never forget – he sang “Your Song” from Moulin Rouge, live.
Skylar instantly dissolved into happy tears. Guests were stunned. And behind my camera, I was trying not to cry right along with her. It was one of those rare, cinematic moments that you don’t just photograph – you feel it.
The reception space was a masterclass in soft, romantic design. Tables were draped in toile-print linens that added a subtle heirloom feel, topped with white scalloped chargers, floral menus, and clusters of glowing candles. Wild Fleur created lush arrangements full of roses, sweet peas, and textured greens, all in shades of blush and petal pink.
The seating chart wall was another standout – a blush backdrop with delicate box displays and paper florals that guided guests to their tables. Crystal chandeliers hung overhead, adding the perfect touch of sparkle.
Guests enjoyed catering from Park Avenue for the wedding day and girl and the fig for the rehearsal dinner, with desserts from Flour and Bloom to end the night on the sweetest note.
Viansa is known for its golden hour, and Skylar and Wes’ portraits were pure magic. The sunlight skimmed across the hills and vines, wrapping them in the softest glow. These moments always feel like a deep breath after the whirlwind – just the two of them, walking hand in hand, soaking in the joy of finally being married.
Skylar and Wes’ Viansa Sonoma wedding was the perfect blend of emotion, elegance, and the kind of joy that comes from knowing how precious life and love are. As their Napa wedding photographer, documenting their day felt like a privilege.
If you’re planning a Viansa Sonoma wedding or a Napa Valley celebration of your own, this day is proof that you can have timeless beauty, heartfelt moments, and a layout designed to let your story shine.
