With the backdrop of Austin’s newest hill country gem as her canvas, Signage + Wedding Designer Lettered by Valerie sought to create an editorial shoot inspired by the richness of textures and artful glow of a provencal wedding to inspire a future wedding at The Arlo. Partnering with Paige Vaughn Photo, 718 Creative and a talented team of Austin vendors, the result was a warm palette of neutral tones, coated in florals and intentional details across the entire design, from wedding invitations to a proper send off in an imported European car.

Design Inspiration + Details
As a wedding signage and paper goods curator at heart, Valerie understands the importance of day-of details, and that first impressions are everything when it comes to your wedding. Bringing in the color palette and overall design inspiration to life began with the invitation suite that utilized various neutral tones of textured paper, with a blind impression letterpress, to give a subtle impact. The theme of textured paper was carried into the day-of signage with a statement seating chart greeting guests as they arrived at the space. Individual seating cards were handwritten by Valerie and then affixed to the large custom box piece that looked just as artful as it was functional.

Ceremony + Cocktail Hour
To amplify the architecture and hill country views that surround The Arlo, the team opted for an outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour combination, with florals from Truth and Blooms hand strung from the large oak trees. As an added element to help future couples get a full picture of what the space could look like on their wedding day, additional guests were brought in to simulate a proper wedding. The ceremony space boasted a mixed styling of chairs, some of which are provided through the venue. Others were rented via Premiere Events. In doing so, Valerie was able to create an organic look to the ceremony set-up, while offering future clients a great solution for building visual interest in a price conscious way. The bride wore a dramatic sleeve gown from A&Be austin, with a pearl headband to create a refined and regal look that brought the vision to life. Following the ceremony, guests were led towards cocktail hour where the grand fireplace was used as the backdrop for the bar, soft velvet linens from Premiere Events scattered the space and a champagne tower dressed in floating florals greeted them for a celebratory toast. Drink Slingers served live seasonal cocktails, and the bartender wore an organic cotton apron that gave a textural nod to the design.

Reception + Dessert
Guests then made their way into the Arlo space where the large windows throughout the venue cast a beautiful glow on the dinner reception that awaited. The concept of texture was on display throughout the tablescape via the Nuage linens, florals, candles, paper details and curated trays of fresh fruit, bread and nuts. Each setting had a letter pressed menu, in the same design as the invitations, coupled with a hand lettered place card. Utensils were tied together with an organic cotton bow. It’s the little details that often make the biggest impression on wedding day guests, and a custom menu coupled with a place card, that can also serve as a take home memory of the day, always makes for a thoughtful touch. The cohesive linens continued onto the dessert table where a three tiered textured cake was on display from Feathers & Frosting.

Send-Off
The evening concluded with a sunset photo moment on the newly added grand staircase at the Arlo, transporting the couple to a European destination right in the heart of Austin. The grand finale was a European imported 1971 Fiat 500, restored to mint condition and adorned with florals, making for a unique send off moment. The model bride waved her bouquet goodbye through the open sunroof as guests cheered from behind.
