This Villa Montalvo Arts Center wedding for Tiffany and Mathew is one of my favorites (you may remember their epic engagement session)! It’s been a busy season of photography with such beautiful weather (like THIS session), but I’m so grateful to have the ability to do what I love after such a tough year!

This year has been tough for Tiffany and Mathew too, given this intimate wedding at Villa Montalvo was their backup plan after COVID forced them to move their original celebration to 2021!

With so many couples in the turmoil of reschedule, I wanted to share Tiffany’s perspective:

How did you feel about having a small intimate wedding, especially during the current circumstances?
If I were to go back in time, I would absolutely have an intimate wedding over a large wedding. Though I love my family to death, I was completely overwhelmed and exhausted with having to plan a wedding for 200+ guests. Due to COVID, we had to postpone our wedding to 2021, but we still wanted to do something special for our original date. We decided to have an intimate elopement with our parents and I love that we proceeded with this plan. The intimate wedding is the way to go! You get to spend time with your spouse during this life changing event and actually enjoy it together. I’m also glad we were able to share this moment with our parents compared to having a big wedding where you can’t spend quality time with your loved ones because you’re busy running around. 

Looking back, what were your top two favorite moments?
1) Sharing this life changing event with our parents and them being involved with our marriage license. 2) Having Montalvo Arts Center to ourselves after everyone left. 

If you could do it all over again, would you change anything?
I would probably do an elopement with close family and friends from the very beginning. Enjoy the special day with people that I care about the most and want to celebrate the day with us. 

What advice would you give other couples in a similar situation?
Be flexible. No one could have predicted COVID to happen and still be around, but you’ll need to be flexible especially with the County’s restriction. It absolutely sucks that couples have to postpone their wedding and all the planning, but a wedding is supposed to celebrate you and your partner, so you should still do something special. I was attached to our date because I felt like that was a date we looked forward to in celebrating our life together, and it’s unfortunate that we had to postpone, but there are other ways to still make it special.
